Volunteering

Volunteer your time for Dr Jackson Cancer Fund

We have a range of volunteer opportunities for you to consider in all of our local areas in Pontefract, Wakefield and Dewsbury.

From arranging your own fundraising activity with our support, to choosing from a host of fundraising activities that are already available. We have over 100 ideas for fundraising - do you fancy having some fun and helping us to help those touched by cancer?

Want to help make a difference volunteering for a worthwhile cause?

Our iconic collection boxes in shops and other businesses across the country help us raise vital funds for Dr Jackson’s. We need volunteer Collection Box Coordinators to help us find more homes for collection boxes in Wakefield and the Dewsbury area.

It’s a great opportunity to get out into your local community, build relationships with local businesses and to develop new skills. Our volunteer Collection Box Coordinators place the boxes, collect from them every 2-3 months. It’s a totally flexible opportunity and you’ll be making a real difference.

Would you like to start a local fundraising group to support the work of Dr Jacskons' in your local community? If the answer is yes, we would love to hear from you.

As a fundraising group or member, you will help us to raise vital funds for the charity and encourage people to support us by:

  • Working in a group to organise fundraising events in the local area
  • Displaying leaflets and posters in your local community to promote your events and charity appeals
  • Skills desired
  • Enjoy meeting new people
  • Passionate about your local Hospitals
  • Team player
  • Looking for a new challenge

DIY (Do It Yourself) Fundraising – from balls to galas, coffee mornings to book stalls, bric a brac stalls, sports events, sponsored walks, come dine with me for charity, Church galas, open garden, cake sale (Dr Jackson’s has a list of 100+ ideas!)

Staffing a stand in one of the three hospitals at Pontefract, Wakefield and Dewsbury to promote our charity, encourage people to volunteer and sell our retail goods.

Other information

We ask our volunteers to only give as much time as they can. Our roles are designed to accommodate your particular interests and we always try to work around you.

You could be our next valuable volunteer. We could not achieve our success without the support and commitment of our local volunteers.

Those that can… do. Those that can do more… volunteer.

Thank you - look forward to hearing from you!
